In order to install Microsoft SQL Server on to your Windows 8, 8.1 or 10 computer, you will need to first install .NET Framework 3.5. This feature is no longer installed by default on newer versions of Windows.
The Install files for .NET Framework 3.5 include .NET 2.0 and 3.0, so you will only need to complete this install to have most of the previous versions of .NET installed.
Open Control Panel
The easiest method open Control Panel in Windows 8 and higher is to click the START button or Windows button and then start typing Control Panel. The automatic search features will provide you with the icon you need to launch the applet.
Install the application
Double-click on the Programs and Features icon. Once the Programs and Features window opens, click on the "Turn Windows features on or off" link that appears at the right side of the screen.
The first option listed in the Windows Features window will be ".NET Framework 3.5 (includes .NET 2.0 and 3.0)". Put a check in the box in front of this option, and click the OK button.
You may be asked to download the feature from Windows Update. Select this option, and the file will download and install.
Continue the GlasPacLX installation of SQL Server.
