Installing GlasPacLX 7 Follow

 

NOTE: Before you can start using GlasPacLX, you need to install it on your system. The following instructions are intended to guide you step-by-step through the installation process. This topic covers installation on a standalone machine or a network workstation.

Attention users of GlasPacLX SBE! Please contact GTS Customer Support BEFORE attempting to install GlasPacLX 7. Your software must be re-registered for the new version to install and run successfully.

Please be sure that you move the "Account" folder and place it in a safe location before the installation.  Move the folder back to the same location after successful installation.

The "Account" folder is often located in the C:\GTS folder.

Attention local area network users!

Please consider the following items if you intend to connect a workstation to the server in order to use GlasPacLX. Otherwise, the workstation will not be able to connect to the GlasPacLX® database on the server.

  • Network connectivity from the workstation to the server.
  • The root of the drive on the server on which GlasPacLX resides must be shared to all users with read/write access on the share.
  • Make sure that the firewall on the server includes exceptions for SQL port 1433 as well as exceptions for the GlasPacLX application and Com app service.
  • Make sure that the instance of SQL installed on the server that is to be used for GlasPacLX has remote connections enabled for both TCP/IP and named pipes.

Attention Terminal Server Users! If the installation is intended for a terminal server machine, you must open a Command Prompt and use the following statement PRIOR to running the setup file: 

Change User /Install

Attention Windows Vista and Windows 7 Users! Please be sure you are logged in as an administrator and user account control is turned off before proceeding with the install.

 

Installing GlasPac®LX on your System

  1. Download The GlasPacLX installer from the GTS Download Center

    Note:  You will need your email address and Serial Number.

  2. Unzip the installer file.  Inside the folder you unzipped, you will find three files and a folder.  If this is your first time installing GlasPacLX on your computer, continue to step 3.  If you already have an earlier version of GlasPacLX installed on your computer, please read the "How to Uninstall GlasPacLX.html" document found in the unzipped folder.
  3. Right-click on setup_GlasPacLX.exe and select "Run As Administrator".



  4. After a few seconds, the GlasPacLX Installation screen will be displayed

  5. The GlasPacLX Installation user interface allows the user to select two installation types ‘Full Install’ and ‘Client-Only’.
    • Select Full Install if you will be running GlasPacLX on only one computer or if this is the server where your database will be run.
    • Select Client-Only if this computer is part of a network that will connect to the database on another computer.

Note:  If you are doing a Client-Only installation or upgrade, skip down to the Client-Only section.

 

Full Install

  1. Select Full Install, and you should see all of the GlasPacLX components change to checked.  The options are:


    • Crystal Reports v13 - This option is essential for running reports and printing in GlasPacLX.
    • SQL 2008 Express R2 – This option installs the database server on the computer into which you have selected for the installation. NOTE: If this is an existing install and the current database is named something other than GlasPacLX, the GlasPacLX database box will automatically be checked. If you are aware that the database name is different than GlasPacLX, uncheck the box and a new database will not be installed unnecessarily.  Select this option if you are installing a new server or a new standalone installation. If you already have a working database server, do not select this option.
    • GlasPacLX - This option installs the GlasPacLX application.
    • ComApp - (Communications Applet)  This option installs the program that allows GlasPacLX to connect with your e-commerce trading partners.
    • NAGS® - (GlassMate Data)  This option installs the NAGS® price lists for Auto Glass.

      Note:  Select NAGS® only if you want your NAGS® data stored on this computer.  You can also download the latest NAGS® updates from https://www.gtscommunity.com at any time.

  2. Click on the Install button to start the installation process.

  3. The installer will now go through the following steps (you will not need to do anything during these steps:
    • Register components on your computer
    • Install Crystal Reports
    • Install SQL Server 2008 R2 (The SQL Installation screen will appear, and install the application.  This process is automatic and you will not be able to interact with the SQL installer.)

  4. When the GlasPacLX application installation begins, a second window will display.



  5. Click the Next button to begin the installation.
  6. Put a check mark in the "I accept . . ." box to accept the License Agreement, and click Next to continue.

  7. Click on the Install button and GlasPacLX will install on your computer.

  8. When the "Completed . . ." screen appears, click the Finish button to close this window.

  9. The main installer window will now continue installing the remaining features you selected:
    • ComApp
    • NAGS®
  10. When the install finishes, it will display "GlasPacLX Installation Complete".  Click the Finish button to close the installer.

 

Client-Only Install

  1. Select Client-Only.  The only options that will become checked are Crystal Reports v13 and GlasPacLX.
  2. Click the Install button to begin the installation process.



  3. The installer will now go through the following steps (you will not need to do anything during these steps:
    • Register components on your computer
    • Install Crystal Reports
  4. When the GlasPacLX application installation begins, a second window will display.



  5. Click the Next button to begin the installation.
  6. Put a check mark in the "I accept . . ." box to accept the License Agreement, and click Next to continue.



  7. Click on the Install button and GlasPacLX will install on your computer.



  8. When the "Completed . . ." screen appears, click the Finish button to close this window.



  9. The main installation program will now complete.  Click the Finish button to close the installer.

Com App Configuration

During the update, some of the default Communications Applet setting may have returned to default.  Review these settings to ensure that you continue receiving GLAXIS dispatches, have access to your Online ordering and 

 

  1. In GlasPacLX, click on Tools > Start Com App Admin Tool
  2. Click on the Glaxis tab
  3. If there are any entries in the upper section for Parent PID, Password, etc., then verify the following:
    • The Glaxis Test Mode check box should be unchecked
    • The Web Server Settings should be set to Production Mode

  4. Click on the Partners tab
  5. If you Order online from Pilkington, verify that the Web Server Settings are set to Production Mode

  6. Click on the GlassQuoter tab
  7. If you use GlassQuoter, select Production Mode. However, if you do not use GlassQuoter, then clear the entry under Staging Mode, and leave that option selected.
  8. Click OK to save all updated settings
