Once Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Express SP2 (SQL) has been installed, it will still need to be configured. Without the changes in this article, no other workstations will be able to attach to SQL.
Configure connection protocols
Click on START > All Programs > Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 > Configuration Tools, and select SQL Server Configuration Manager.
Once it opens it should look like this:
Open SQL Server Network Configuration > Protocols for GTS
Right-click on Named Pipes and select Enable, click yes or OK at the warning message. Replete this process for TCP/IP.
Before completing this next step, make sure that no one is logged on to GlasPacLX.
Select SQL Server Services, and right-click on SQL Server (GTS). Click on the Restart option.
Close SQL Server Configuration Manager
Change the GlasPacLX database recovery model
The next process requires SQL Server Management Studio Express. If it has not been installed on this computer you will need to download it from Microsoft and install it.
Launch SQL Server Management Studio Express
Click on the plus (+) sign next to Databases
Right click on the GlasPacLX database
Select Options under Select a Page on the left
Change the Recovery Model from Simple to Full
Click OK, and close the Management Studio application
