Why do I need a secure password?
In today’s world we all have to do what we can to keep our personal and business data safe. Secure passwords can help keep unwanted people from getting in to your server and gaining access to your company’s data and financial information.
What makes a password more secure?
A secure password is one that cannot be guessed easily. It needs to have a minimum of six (6) characters, and contain three (3) of the following items:
- Upper case letters (A, B, C, etc)
- Lower case letters (a, b, c, etc)
- Numbers (1, 2, 3, etc)
- Non-alphanumeric characters ($, #, &, !, etc)
Combining these password elements may seem more complex than necessary. The following examples show how secure passwords can be complex enough to help keep unwanted people out, but simple and easy enough to remember:
Why do my passwords expire?
A secure password is only secure so long as it is kept secret. The best way to keep a password secret is to change it occasionally. Four (4) times a year, your GTS Online user account will ask for a new password. This is your opportunity to do your part to help keep your company’s information and finances safe.
