How do I add a trusted location to Microsoft Access? Follow

Overview

With the release of Microsoft Access (Access) 2007 and later versions, Microsoft began required additional security when opening files located on remote servers.  The full version of Access, has a pop-up window that allows users to authorize the remote location, but the Access runtime version does not. This document will detail the process needed to allow these remote location for customers on GTS Online servers.

Adding the Trusted Location

To add the folder location to the trusted list for a user, the following registry entries must be added:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_USERS\<User_ID>\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Access\Security\Trusted Locations]
"AllowNetworkLocations"=dword:00000001

[HKEY_USERS\<User_ID>\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Access\Security\Trusted Locations\Location0]
"Path"="\\\\server64\\foldershare\\"
"AllowSubfolders"=dword:00000001

The <User_ID> and \\\\server64\\foldershare\\ entries above must be replaced with the user's registry entry and the file location.

If you are not familiar with using the Registry please contact a Systems team member.
